By being part of the Grandvalira Ski Area, the resort of El Tarter (also known as Soldeu El Tarter) is an ideal base to go skiing and to practise other winter sports. From here you will have easy access to more than 170 slopes with 92 kilometres of runs located in El Tarter alone.
The ski season here lasts from December to April. Beginners as well as expert skiers will find ideal slopes for their levels and snowboarders can also enjoy a stay in the resort as there is an excellent snow park available. During times with less snow there are 240 snow cannons available which keep a minimum of 32 km of runs covered.
In general you can say that El Tarter is good for experts and intermediate skiers and brilliant for beginners and snowboarders. There are 14 green runs, 15 blue runs, 12 red runs and 11 black runs which make up the 92 kilometres of downhill slopes. While the resort is located on an altitude of 1750 metres, the 29 ski lifts take you up as far as 2560 metres which is where the highest lift ends.
Although there are mainly slopes for beginners and early intermediate skiers available, there are also some off-piste slopes available which can be reached on snowcats. Those who chose the resort because of the easy level of runs will probably also be happy to hear that you will find one of Europes highly rated ski schools here. El Tarter is a family friendly resort with a great value for money. It is significantly cheaper than other resorts in the Pyrenees and still offers excellent facilities.
